Applications are invited for six funded PhD studentships in aquatic ecology on the Marie Skłodowska Curie Action European Joint Doctorate ITN MANTEL (Management of Climatic Extreme Events in Lakes & Reservoirs for the Protection of Ecosystem Services).

Each vacancy is for a period of 36 months. The available projects include projects 1, 3, 4, 10, 11, and 12. Recruitment is based on a transparent and merit-based recruitment process in accordance with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and Code of Conduct for Recruitment of Researchers. We offer either European Joint or Double Doctorates undertaking cross-disciplinary research working in top European research institutes in at least two different countries.

The Project

Episodic climatic events range from relatively short mixing events to storms and heat waves. Understanding the impact of these events in lakes and reservoirs requires monitoring that captures the event (hours–days) as well as the ensuing impact that can last for months or even years. Only recently has automated high frequency monitoring of lakes and reservoirs been widely adopted throughout Europe
