This position will be based in Warsaw, Poland. A relocation to Warsaw will be required.

As the worldwide leader in electronic payment services, First Data is seeking to recruit an accountant with exposure and extensive knowledge in the Greek accounting framework in order to join our team in Poland / Warsaw and support all accounting related matters regarding Greece.

The successful jobholder will: 

  • Job functions include understanding journal entries mechanically and conceptually that are recorded into the general ledger, account analysis, reporting of risk and opportunities
  • Reviewing entries according to Greek GAAP and USGAAP
  • Develop and maintain relationships with senior Accounting and Finance personnel for various Alliances.
  • Various reporting requirements including monthly balance sheet variance, Tax, SOX, MRC and Audit.
  • Participate in the monthly close process, including review of balance sheet and contract related journal entries, all accruals relating revenues (DIA), and other expenses.
  • Be able to identify issues and process improvements.


  • 2 – 4 years’ experience in a financial accounting department within a Greek company or a multinational company that operates in Greece – Ideally in Big 4 public practice firms or large multinational, CPA preferred.
  • Experience in Greek GAAP Accounting per current Law (this includes knowledge of tax framework, VAT treatment).
  • Knowledge of preparation of financial statements under IFRS or USGAAP and Greek GAAP.
  • Experience in external, SOX, and internal audits.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance will be considered an asset.
  • Fluency in English and Greek is required (both oral and written).
  • Candidate must possess highly developed organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Oracle/General ledger & Microsoft office applications a plus.
  • Ability to function effectively in fast paced environment and aptitude to interact with various levels/departments.
  • Initial Travel to move work from other location will most likely be required.
  • Be self-motivated, willing to learn new skills and possess a positive attitude.
